佛经翻译委员会八项基本守则---万佛圣城在家菩萨戒手册佛经翻译委员会八项基本守则The Eight Guidelines of the Buddhist Text Translation Society1.

从事翻译工作者不得抱有个人的名利。

A volunteer must free him/herself from the motives of personal fame and reputation.

2.

从事翻译工作者不得贡高我慢，必须以虔诚恭敬的态度来工作。

A volunteer must cultivate a sincere and respectful attitude free from arrogance and conceit.

3.

从事翻译工作者不得自赞毁他。

A volunteer must refrain from aggrandizing his/her work and denigrating that of others.

4.

从事翻译工作者不得自以为是，对他人作品吹毛求疵。

A volunteer must not establish him/herself as the standard of correctness and suppress the workof others with his or her fault-finding.

5.

从事翻译工作者必须以佛心为己心。

A volunteer must take the Buddha-mind as his/her own mind.

6.

从事翻译工作者必须运用择法眼来辨别正确的道理。

A volunteer must use the wisdom of Dharma-Selecting Vision to determine true principles.

7.

从事翻译工作者必须恳请十方大德长老来印证其翻译。

A volunteer must request Virtuous Elders in the ten directions to certify his/her translations.

8.

从事翻译工作者之作品在获得印证之后，必须努力弘扬流通经、律、论以及佛书以光大佛教。

A volunteer must endeavor to propagate the teachings by printing Sutras, Shastra texts, andVinaya texts when the translations are certified as being correct.
