The Thirteenth Part of the Dharma: Upholding the Vajra Prajna

At this time, Venerable Subhuti asked the Buddha: "World-Honored One, what should we call this sutra?How should we believe in and uphold it?”

The Buddha told Subhuti: "This sutra is called the Diamond Prajna Paramita Sutra, and you should believe in and uphold it in accordance with the Dharma.Why?Subhuti, you should know that in the Buddha's view, the so-called Prajna Paramita, or the method of liberation wisdom, is not real, but is conveniently called Prajna Paramita.Subhuti, what do you think?Does Tathagata have real Dharmas to speak?”

“Subhuti replied, “World-Honored One, Tathagata has no real Dharma to speak of.”

“Subhuti, what do you think?Is there a lot of tiny dust in the entire Three Thousand Worlds?”

Subhuti replied, “There are so many, World Honored Ones.”

“Subhuti, you must know that all dust particles, observed with the wisdom of Tathagata, are not real, but are conveniently called dust particles.Similarly, the world in the eyes of Tathagata is not real, it is just conveniently called the world.“

“Subhuti, what do you think?Can we see the Tathagata through a body with thirty-two good appearances?”

“No, World Honored One.You cannot see the Tathagata through a body with thirty-two good appearances.Why? Because according to the observation of Tathagata, the so-called thirty-two aspects are not real, but are conveniently called the thirty-two aspects.”

“Subhuti, if there are good men or good women, they will use a large number of bodies and lives as sand in the Ganges to make donations.And other people, in this sutra, even if they believe, accept, recite any four-verse verse, etc., they will tell others according to their circumstances.Then, he will receive more blessings than those ahead.”

Fourteenth part of faith pure and true

At this time, when Venerable Subhuti heard such a scripture, deeply felt the Dharma principles and purpose, and was moved to tears and couldn't help crying.Then, he said to the Buddha:

“It's so rare, World Honored One.I have never heard of such a profound and wonderful classic you have spoken for countless kalpas, with my wise eyes.World Honored One, if someone hears this sutra, he can develop pure faith and will manifest the reality.It should be known that this person has achieved the most amazing and rarest merit.The Buddha, the reality mentioned here is not a real appearance;Therefore, the Tathagata just calls it reality conveniently.”

“World Honored One, I am now able to believe, understand, accept and recite such scriptures, which is not difficult for me.If in the future, in the five hundred years of the Dharma-Ending Age, some people will hear this sutra and be able to believe, understand and uphold it. He is the rarest and rare person in the world.Why?Because this person no longer has the attachment to self-image, human-image, sentient beings, and life-life appearance in his heart.What is the reason for this?Because the so-called self-image is not a real appearance;The so-called human appearance, sentient being appearance and life expectancy are not some real appearance.Why?Because the person whose mind can not be cared about by all appearances is called Buddha.”

The Buddha told Venerable Subhuti: "It's like this, it's like this, you're right.If someone in the future can be unsurprising, afraid, or cringe after hearing this classic, you should know that this person is very rare and rare.Why?Subhuti, because in the Buddha's view, the most extraordinary Prajna Paramita among the six paramitas is neither the most extraordinary nor the real Prajna wisdom nor the real paramita that can be reached on the other side of the real one.All of this is not real, and it is called the general paramita.”

“Subhuti, the so-called paramita of forbearance and humiliation, is neither the real paramita of forbearance nor the real paramita that can be reached on the other side. It is conveniently called paramita of forbearance and humiliation.Why?Subhuti, like when I was ordered by King Goli to cut off all my limbs in my past life.At that time, I had no attachment to the self-image, no attachment to the human form, no attachment to the life form.Why?Because when I was chopped off one after another, if I had any attachment to the appearance of self, human appearance, sentient beings, and life expectancy, I would develop hatred.But this is not the case.”

“Subhuti also thought that Tathagata had been a forbearance immortal in the past for five hundred lives, and he specialized in practicing the method of forbearance.In those generations, the Tathagata had no attachment to the appearance of self, human, sentient beings, and life span.Therefore, Subhuti, you should know that Bodhisattvas should let go of their attachment to all appearances and develop the supreme and correct mind of enlightenment.Neither the thoughts should be generated by color, nor should the thoughts be generated by sound, smell, taste, touch, concepts, etc.A heart of freedom that is unoccupied should be developed at any time.”

“In fact, if the mind lives in, this living is not real.Therefore, the Buddha often said that the minds of all Bodhisattvas should not be dwelling in all things and do charity.Subhuti, in order to benefit all sentient beings, Bodhisattvas should give in this way. (Even the six degrees are like this )。”

“In the Buddha's view, all the so-called appearances are untrue appearances;All sentient beings are also unreal sentient beings.Subhuti, you must believe that Tathagata is a person who speaks the truth, a person who speaks the truth, a person who speaks the truth, a person who does not deceive, or a person who does not speak two things in front and behind.Subhuti, the wonderful Dharma realized by the Tathagata, has no real or false opposition in this wonderful Dharma.”

“Subhuti, if all Bodhisattvas live in a certain Dharma image and give alms, it is like a person walking into the boundless darkness and unable to see anything clearly.If all Bodhisattvas do not live in any Dharma image and do give alms, it is like a person with healthy eyes, and everything is clear under the sunshine.Subhuti, in the future, if there are good men or women, they can uphold and recite this sutra.Tathagata will fully know and fully understand with the wisdom of the Buddha's eyes.They can all achieve infinite merits.”

Fifteenth part of the merits of reciting this sutra

“Subhuti, if there is a good man or a good woman, she will give alms with as much body as the sand of the Ganges every morning;Every day at noon, I also use my body as much as the sand in the Ganges to make charity;Every evening, I also use the body as much as the sand in the Ganges to make charity.After countless hundreds of thousands of kalpas like this, I have been using my body to make fearless donations every day.If someone else, after hearing this classic, completely believed it and had no doubts.Then, the blessings he has obtained are better than those ahead.What's more, on the basis of belief, you can also write, uphold, read and recite, and explain to others!”

“Subhuti, to put it simply, this sutra has incredible and unmeasurable boundless merits.What the Tathagata said for those who develop the Mahayana Bodhicitta, and for those who have the aspiration to become Buddhas.If someone can uphold and recite and preach to the public, the Tathagata knows it completely and fully understands it.Such people can achieve countless, incomprehensible, boundless, and incredible merits.People like this are taking on the cause of the supreme enlightenment of the Tathagata in the three realms.Why?Subhuti, you should know that if a person with a narrow mind and likes Hinayana teachings, because they are attached to the self-view, human view, sentient being view and life expectancy, they cannot persist in listening, learning, believing, reading, and explaining to others.Subhuti, anywhere, as long as there is this sutra, all the heavenly beings, humans, and Asuras in the world should respectfully offer them.You should know that this is the real pagoda, so everyone should be respectful, and often worship and surround it, spreading it around with various flowers and spices for offering.”

Sixteenth most incredible classic

“Also, Subhuti, if there is a good man or a good woman, she will be despised and belittled by others because of her upholding and reciting this Diamond Sutra.It means that this person committed sins in his past life and should have fallen into the three evil realms in the next life.Because it is now despised and belittled by everyone, the past sins have naturally been eliminated.Moreover, you will soon achieve supreme enlightenment.”

“Subhuti, I remember that in the past countless kalpas, I met countless Buddhas before the Lantern Buddha.They all made sacrifices and service, and did not miss any Buddha.If someone else can uphold and recite this Diamond Prajna Sutra in the future Dharma-Ending Age.Then, the merits of my offering to countless Buddhas were less than one percent of them, less than one hundred trillion, compared with his upholding, reading and reciting the Diamond Sutra. Even the difference cannot be explained by arithmetics and metaphors.”

“Subhuti, if there are good men or good women who can uphold and recite this sutra in the future Dharma-Ending Age, the merits that arise will be so extraordinary. If I speak in full, some people will not accept it, be upset, and doubt or believe it.Subhuti, you should know that the wisdom of this scripture is incredible, and the consequences of the followers are incredible.”

Seventeenth Part of the ultimate selflessness of all dharmas

At this time, Venerable Subhuti asked the Buddha again: "World-Honored One, if there is a good man or a good woman, he has already developed the supreme enlightenment of seeking the Buddha's path and transforming sentient beings.So, how should his mind settle, how to practice, and how to subdue the troubles in his mind?”

The Buddha told Venerable Subhuti: "The good men and women who have already developed the supreme enlightenment should always visualize this way: I should save all sentient beings and reach Nirvana. After saving all sentient beings, no sentient beings have indeed reached Nirvana.Why?Subhuti, you should know that if the Bodhisattva still has the same attachment to self-image, human-image, sentient beings, and life span, he is not a true Bodhisattva.What's the reason?Subhuti, there is no such Dharma at all, called the mind of supreme enlightenment.”

“Subhuti, what do you think?Did the Tathagata achieve supreme enlightenment because of some kind of Dharma?”

“No, World Honored One.According to my understanding of the Dharma you said, you did not achieve supreme enlightenment because of some Dharma.”

The Buddha said, “That’s it, it’s it.Subhuti, there is indeed no such Dharma, where the Tathagata can achieve supreme enlightenment.Subhuti, if the Tathagata does have some kind of Dharma that can achieve supreme enlightenment, the Lamp Buddha will not give me a prophecy: In the future world, you will become a Buddha, and your name is Sakyamuni.Because there is indeed no such Dharma that can achieve supreme enlightenment;Therefore, the Buddha of Lamp gave me a prophecy and said: In the future world, you will become a Buddha, and your name is Sakyamuni.Why?Because the so-called Tathagata means that all dharmas are originally unmoving.”

“If someone says that Tathagata can achieve supreme enlightenment.Subhuti, there is indeed no such Dharma, where the Tathagata can achieve supreme enlightenment.Subhuti, you should know that the supreme enlightenment achieved by the Tathagata is neither true nor false in this Dharma.Therefore, the Tathagata often says that all dharmas are Buddhist dharmas.Subhuti, the so-called all dharmas do not exist in real existence, but are just conveniently called all dharmas.”

“Subhuti, for example, there is a person whose body is very tall..."

Venerable Subhuti took it and said, "World-Honored One, according to the observation of Tathagata, although someone's body is very tall, it is not real, but it is conveniently called the body is tall.”

“Subhuti, the same is true for Bodhisattvas.If you make this vow: I should save countless sentient beings.Then he cannot be called a Bodhisattva.Why?Subhuti, you should know that there is no real Dharma called a Bodhisattva.Therefore, the Buddha often said that among all dharmas, there is no self, no others, no sentient beings, and no process of life span.”

“Subhuti, if a Bodhisattva says this: I should use all kinds of good deeds to adorn the Buddha's Pure Land, this person cannot be called a Bodhisattva.Why?Because according to the observation of the Tathagata, there is nothing solemn about the solemn Buddha land, but it is conveniently called the solemn Buddha land.Subhuti, you should know that if the Bodhisattva has already understood the wonderful Dharma of selflessness, the Tathagata said that he is called a true Bodhisattva.”

Eighteenth distracting from each other is unattainable

“Subhuti, what do you think?Is the naked eye of the Tathagata ordinary people on earth?”

“Yes, World Honored One.Tathagata has the naked eye.”

“Subhuti, what do you think?Does the Tathagata have the heavenly eyes of the heavenly beings in the upper realm?”

“Yes, World Honored One.Tathagata has a divine eye.”

“Subhuti, what do you think?Does the Tathagata have the wisdom eye to realize emptiness of the Śrāvakas and Pratyekabuddhas?”

“Yes, World Honored One.Tathagata has wisdom eyes.”

“Subhuti, what do you think?Does the Tathagata have the Dharma eye that the Bodhisattvas and saints understand the differences in Dharma appearances?”

“Yes, World Honored One.Tathagata has the eyes of Dharma.”

“Subhuti, what do you think?Does the Tathagata have the Buddha's eyes that know everything and everything?”

“Yes, World Honored One.Tathagata has Buddha's eyes.”

“Subhuti, what do you think?Just like all the sand in the Ganges, according to the observation of Tathagata, are they sand?”

“Yes, World Honored One.According to the observation of Tathagata, they are sand.”

“Subhuti, what do you think?Just like all the sand in a Ganges River, there are as many Ganges Rivers as many sands as the total number of sands;All the sands in these Ganges Rivers are gathered together. There are so many worlds of Buddhas in the ten directions. Is it considered too many?”

“There are a lot of them, World Honored One.”

So the Buddha told Venerable Subhuti: "The Tathagata knows all the sentient beings in all these lands, their various thoughts.Why?Because according to the observation of Tathagata, all the so-called thoughts are not real, but are just conveniently called thoughts.Because what?Subhuti, you must know that the thoughts of the past have passed and cannot be obtained;Now my thoughts cannot be stopped and cannot be obtained;The future thoughts cannot be expected and cannot be obtained.”

Nineteenth part of blessings like illusion

“Subhuti, what do you think?If someone uses seven treasures piled up from the three thousand great worlds to give alms, will he get much blessing for this reason?”

“Many, World Honored Ones.Because of this, he has received so much blessing.”

“Subhuti, you should know that if blessings are real, the Tathagata doesn’t need to talk about the question of how much blessings are.Because blessings are not real, the Tathagata has given many blessings and virtues.”

The second tenth color is like a fantasy

“Subhuti, what do you think?Can you see the Buddha through the perfect and true physical body?”

“No, World Honored One.You should not see the Tathagata through the perfect and true physical body.Why?Because according to the observation of Tathagata, the so-called perfect and true physical body is not real, but is conveniently called the perfect and true physical body.”

“Subhuti, what do you think?Can we meet the Tathagata through complete and specific various ways?”

“No, World Honored One.You should not meet the Tathagata through complete and specific various ways of seeing each other.Why?Because according to the observation of Tathagata, the so-called complete and specific good appearances are not real, but are conveniently called complete and specific good appearances.”

The 21st point is beyond words

“Subhuti, don’t think that the Tathagata would think like this: I should have something to say.Don't think so.Why?If someone says that Tathagata has something to say, he is slandering Tathagata because he does not understand the true meaning of Tathagata's teachings.Subhuti, you should know that the so-called preacher cannot be said, it is just convenient to call it preaching.”

At this time, the first step to understand emptiness, Venerable Subhuti asked the Buddha again: "World-Honored One, can there really be some sentient beings who can develop faith when they hear you talk about such a method?”

The Buddha replied: "Subhuti, you must know that they are not sentient beings, and they are not separated from the appearance of sentient beings.Why?Subhuti, those sentient beings, according to the observation of Tathagata, are not static sentient beings, but just conveniently call them sentient beings.”

The 22nd part is unavailable

Venerable Subhuti continued to ask the Buddha: "World-Honored One, have you not obtained any Dharma when you achieve supreme enlightenment?”

The Buddha replied: “That’s right, that’s right.Subhuti, when I achieved the supreme enlightenment, I did not obtain any slight Dharma, but it was just conveniently called the supreme enlightenment.”

The 23rd separation of each other and do good deeds

“Also, Subhuti, you should know that this is the ultimate equality method, and there is no distinction between high and low.Therefore, it is called supreme enlightenment.If someone can let go of the self-image, the human appearance, the sentient beings, the life expectancy, and practice all good deeds that benefit themselves and others, he will attain the supreme enlightenment.Subhuti, you should know that the good deeds mentioned here, according to the observation of Tathagata, do not have any good essence, but are just conveniently called good deeds.”

The twenty-fourth part of the sutra is incomparable blessings

“Subhuti, if all the kings of Mount Sumeru, the king of the mountains, were gathered together in one place in the three thousand great worlds, so many seven treasures would gather together;Then, someone used all these treasures to give.Another person, who obeyed and recited even one of the four verses of the Diamond Prajna Paramita Sutra, and explained it to others as they please.Then, the blessings obtained by donors are less than one percent, less than one trillion, and even all calculations and metaphors cannot explain the gap between them.”

The 25th differentiation is not transformed

“Subhuti, what do you think?Don’t think that the Tathagata would think like this: I should save all sentient beings.Subhuti, don't think so.Why?Because there are no real sentient beings at all, Tathagata can save them.If there are indeed sentient beings and Tathagata can save it, it means that Tathagata also has the self-image, human-image, sentient beings, and life-life appearance.But this is not the case.Subhuti, you should know that according to the observation of Tathagata, the so-called existence of self does not mean that there is really an ego, but that ordinary people in the world think there is an ego.Subhuti, the so-called ordinary person, is not a real ordinary person based on the observation of Tathagata, but is just conveniently called an ordinary person.”

The 26th Part of Dharma Body Not in the Ecological

“Subhuti, what do you think?Can someone be sure that he is Tathagata by having thirty-two good appearances?”

Venerable Subhuti replied: “That’s right, it’s right.If you have thirty-two good appearances, you are Tathagata.”

The Buddha said, “Subhuti, if you possess thirty-two good appearances, you are the Tathagata;Then, the Holy King of Wheel-Turning is the Tathagata.”

So, Venerable Subhuti said to the Buddha: "World-Honored One, according to my understanding of your meaning, you should not observe the Tathagata through the thirty-two good forms.”

At this time, the Buddha said in a verse:

“If you try to see me with your color, or look for me with your voice;

What this person does is a wrong way and cannot see the true Tathagata.”

The 27th Part of all dharmas are free from death and no extinction

“Subhuti, if you understand it this way: Tathagata does not need to have thirty-two good appearances to achieve supreme enlightenment.Subhuti, you should not think like this: Tathagata does not need to have thirty-two good appearances to achieve supreme enlightenment.Subhuti, if you think this way, it is equivalent to saying that those who have developed the supreme and correct mind will also say that all dharmas will be eliminated.Don't think so.Why?Because those who have developed the supreme and right mind will not talk about the form of extinction of all dharmas.”

The 28th part of the Bodhisattva is not to bear or to be greedy

“Subhuti, if there are Bodhisattvas who use the seven treasures of the infinite world, which are as many as the sands of the Ganges River, to make donations.There is another person who knows the wonderful meaning of all dharmas without self, and is content with his heart.Then, this Bodhisattva is better than the merits obtained by the Bodhisattva above.Why?Subhuti, because Bodhisattvas do not receive blessings.”

Subhuti respectfully asked the Buddha: "World-Honored One, why do you say that Bodhisattvas do not receive blessings?”

“Subhuti, Bodhisattvas should not be greedy for the causes and conditions of blessings and virtues they have done, so it is said that Bodhisattvas do not receive blessings.”

The 29th part has no appearance of coming and going

“Subhuti, if someone says this: Tathagata sometimes comes, sometimes goes, sometimes sits, and sometimes lie down.Then, he did not understand the true meaning of my statement.Why?Because the so-called Tathagata does not come from anywhere, nor goes to anywhere;The nature has no change, so it is called Tathagata.”

The third tenth unavailable

“Subhuti, if there are good men or good women, they can analyze the three thousand great worlds into tiny dust.What do you think?Are all these dusts considered too much?”

Venerable Subhuti replied: “There are so many, World Honored Ones.Why?If these dust particles are actually present, the Buddha will not call them dust particles.What is the reason?Because according to the observation of Tathagata, all these dust particles are not real dust particles, but are conveniently called dust particles.According to the observation of the Tathagata, the so-called three thousand great thousand worlds are not real worlds, but are just conveniently called the world.Why?If the world is real, it will become the so-called unanalytical combination.According to the observation of Tathagata, the so-called one-combination aspect does not really have this one-combination aspect, but is just conveniently called one-combination aspect.”

“Subhuti, you must know that the so-called unity cannot be described in words.It is just that ordinary people in the world are greedy for the unity of one kind because of their thinking mind.”

Thirty-one point of no knowledge

“Subhuti, if someone thinks: The Buddha talked about many views, such as self-view, human-view, sentient beings, and life-life view.Subhuti, what do you think?Does this person understand the Dharma meaning of the Buddha?”

“No understanding, World Honored One.This person does not understand the Dharma meaning spoken by Tathagata.Why?Because with the observation of Tathagata, whether it is about me, about others, about all sentient beings, or about the process of life span, it is not a real view;It is just conveniently called self-view, human-view, sentient beings, and life-life view.”

“Subhuti, a person who has developed the supreme and right mind, should understand all dharmas in this way, observe them in this way, believe in and understand them in this way, and should not arise from the recognition of any dharma.Subhuti, you should know that the so-called Dharma appearance, based on the observation of the Tathagata, is not the real Dharma appearance, but is just conveniently called Dharma appearance.”

The 32nd part of all dharmas is not true

“Subhuti, if someone uses seven treasures piled up in countless worlds to make donations.In addition, there are good men or good women who have already developed the Bodhicitta and can uphold this sutra, even if it is one of the four verses and other contents.Read and recite by yourself, and tell others according to your own circumstances.Then, he (she )The blessings and causes obtained are better than those in front of you.How to tell others?You should not be attached to any Dharma appearance and appearance, and your mind should remain unmoved.Why?because:

All the methods of creating behavior are like dreams, illusions, bubbles, and shadows;

It is like morning dew and lightning, and Bodhisattvas should observe it in this way.”

After the Buddha said that after the completion of this sutra, Elder Subhuti and all the disciples of the four groups of disciples in the meeting, including monks, nuns, male lay Buddhists, and female lay Buddhists;There are also all the worldly gods, humans, Asuras, etc. that are in the meeting.When I heard the wonderful Dharma spoken by the Buddha, I felt extremely happy and believed and practiced.
