Chinese Master 2014-06-09

According to Hong Kong Oriental Net on the 27th of this month, it weighed as high as 1,230 pounds (about 557.9 kilograms), and was awarded the Guinness World Records in 2006. It was confirmed as the heaviest person in the world. Mexican man Uribe was confirmed to die on the 26th at the age of 48.

Over the years, his amazing weight has prevented him from walking on his own and cannot live without the bed.Earlier this month, Uribe had an abnormal heart rhythm and needed to send him to the hospital for medical treatment.

This news is very impressive. Why can the body become a person’s heaviest burden, or even cause of death!

Another recent study found that 2.1 billion people worldwide were overweight or even obese, accounting for nearly 1 global population last year. /3,It puts heavy pressure on developed or developing countries.Institute of Health Indexes and Assessment at the University of Washington ( IHME), Analysis of population body mass indexes provided by more than 180 countries ( BMI) According to the data, it was found that 671 million people in the world have over half of the population from ten countries including the United States, China, India, Germany, etc.

Compared with 1980, the overweight population was 857 million, indicating that the global growth rate of fat people is faster than the population growth. It can be seen that the impact of obesity is everywhere, and people of all ages and incomes are inseparable. Moreover, more and more children and young people have serious problems. Because children's obesity has a far-reaching impact on health, the risk of developing cardiovascular disease, diabetes and a variety of cancers will also increase in the future.

Why does this happen in society? There are many reasons, but the most important problem should be that modern people live a wealthy life, do not control enough food temptation, absorb too many calories, cause nutritional imbalance, lack of exercise, and accumulate too much fat in the body;Too heavy or obesity has become a common phenomenon, but too fat is actually a disease. Since it is a disease, it must be treated as soon as possible.Although obesity has hereditary factors, it is often caused by gluttony, whether from the perspective of medicine or Buddhism;Diet is the basic need for human survival, but excessive indulgence will become a desire, which will damage both the body and the mind, which is really not worth the loss.

There is a story about "Gluttonym" in Buddhism, which is just used to illustrate:

Once upon a time, there was a man in the country of Madra. He left the world and became a monk under the seat of Venerable Ubopupta and practiced with him.Because he is very greedy for greed, he will never be able to attain enlightenment or attain the fruit after practicing for many years.

One day, Venerable Gupta said to the monk, "I will send you some food tomorrow."The next morning, Venerable Gupta really brought a bowl of chyme, and at the same time took out an empty food utensil and placed it in front of the monks. The Venerable told the monk, "You can eat up all the celium in the bowl, but it is still very hot now. You can wait until it gets cold before eating it slowly."

However, the monk could not resist the temptation of food and was anxious to eat, so he kept blowing at the breasts in the bowl. Not long after, he reported to Venerable Gupta, "The chyme is already cold, so I finished it all."The Venerable Gupta replied, "Although the chyrup is cold, your greed fire is still hot.Now you must make a view of impurity and let the fire of greed cool down. The view of impurity is like cool water, which can water the fiery fire of greed. For all diets, you should regard them as medicine. They are eaten only when they are forced to treat the problem of hunger.Only by being able to observe in this way can greed gradually decrease."

After hearing what the Venerable said, the monk felt very ashamed and implemented it according to the law. Unexpectedly, all the chyme that had just eaten into his stomach was vomited out, and he vomited all the empty food vessels in front of him.At this time, Venerable Gupta said to him, "Why don't you eat it anymore?"The monk replied, "This thing is so dirty, how can you eat it?"The Venerable said, "All the dharmas in the world are like this thing that is sniffled, and they are all impure!"After Venerable Gupta's skillful teachings, the monks thought and observed all dharmas, practiced diligently, and finally attained the Arhat fruit.

From this we can see that those who are Buddhist disciples must have proper diet, as the "Brahmadhan Sutra" says: "If you want to eat, it is like taking medicine for a person's illness, so that he can cure it and not be greedy."We must know that the most precious thing in the world is not money, fame and fortune, nor power or status, but health. Only with health can one have a happy and joyful life.An old saying goes: "The building is a thousand melons, and sleeps three feet at night; How many delicacies are there in the mountains and seas?"Although a person has a successful career, rich family, and many servants, and thousands of buildings, how can he enjoy it if he does not have a healthy body? Therefore, you should pay attention to physical and mental protection in daily life and do not wait until you get serious illness before remedying it.

Therefore, in addition to paying attention to healthy diet on weekdays, we must also understand the way of health preservation;Of course, the healthiest diet is vegetarianism, because humans themselves are suitable for vegetarian food, from their teeth and even their body structure; As long as vegetarian food is properly mixed and avoiding excessive absorption of fat and protein, it is beneficial to the operation of the internal organs. At the same time, vegetarian food can also reduce irritability and mood, etc. Therefore, medical evidence has proved that vegetarian food is one of the best health preservation methods. It can not only purify our body and mind and clear our minds, but also prolong our life. So, how should we maintain health after we have the correct idea? Here are four methods for your reference:

(1) Legitimate behavior:Being upright, being open and honest in your heart, and having few worries and sorrows is the fundamental way to maintain health.

(2) Right language:The proverb says: "A good word warms up in three winters, and a bad word hurts people in six months." It also says: "Disaster comes from the mouth, and thousands of disasters and sins are entangled."The words are inappropriate, just like the car tires are not well positioned, any stable road will be bumpy, which will only increase the grievances in life.Only by speaking soft words of love and not saying bad words can one cultivate one's body and mind and benefit oneself and others.

(3) Be a legitimate person:Our body is nothing more than the four elements and the essence and blood, and will eventually be destroyed. If we can see through and let go, we will not be greedy for the five desires and six dusts, nor do we have a right view of life, but also have a correct attitude towards life.

(4) Righteous behavior:As the saying goes, "It's easy to deal with the world."This "simple" is the "clean heart" in our Buddhism. If we can govern our minds with the Dharma and maintain health with the Dharma, then we will naturally be harmonious and unobstructed in our life. The so-called "the clouds come and go, and the bright moon is in the heart of heaven." This is the state of joy and freedom.

In addition to these four points, coupled with legitimate work and legitimate life, I believe that it is the most reasonable and natural way to maintain your body and mind.

I hope that the above will be of some help to everyone's physical and mental health and increase some wisdom in life. Then, society will naturally reduce some pathological conditions, and physical and mental health will be healthy, and people's lives will naturally become more peaceful and joyful.
