The widely circulated "The Emperor of Liang Baoshen" is a confessional text initiated by Emperor Wu of Liang to save Empress Xi. Emperor Wu of Liang, the wife of Yuan Pei, was jealous by nature and often jealous and persecuted the concubines in the six palaces;She was despised by the Three Jewels and once wrapped several dirty vegetables and meat such as onions, garlic, and leeks in a dough, pretending to offer them to the monks, breaking the monks' pure precepts, and breaking the Buddha's pure rules.

Xi was angry and died at the age of thirty, and after his death he fell into a python.She suffered all the pain, had no hole to hide, had hunger in her stomach, and had many poisonous insects all over her body.One day a few months later, an ugly python appeared on the roof and said to Emperor Wu of Liang in a human language: "I became jealous during my lifetime, but now I have fallen into a python, which is extremely painful. Can the emperor try his best to help me get out of the evil realm?”.

Emperor Wu of Liang, who believed in Buddhism, was shocked when he heard this.Then he summoned Zen Master Baozhi and asked about the cause and effect.The Zen master said: Empress Xi was jealous of the six palaces, disrespectful to the Three Jewels, and did not believe in cause and effect. She only enjoyed happiness but did not benefit her. Therefore, she fell into the animal realm and suffered all the pain.

As the saying goes, "A thought of anger arises, millions of obstacles open." Once the heart is blinded by hatred, jealousy and cruelty in human nature will gush.Empress Xi was degenerated into a python due to her ignorance and disbelief of cause and effect, and suffered from misfortune.But it was precisely because she had a true repentance that she finally turned from a python to a celestial being under the joint repentance of Emperor Wu of Liang and the monks. It can be seen how powerful the sincere repentance from the heart is!

Many people do not understand the true meaning of repentance. They recite the confession or verbal repentance in front of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, and fall into the superficial form, or they sincerely repent at the moment, but then commit it again. These are not true repentance. Such repentance is powerless, and it is difficult to completely eliminate sins and receive retribution in favor of good deeds.True repentance means expressing pain and repentance for the sins you have committed, and swearing to correct your mistakes and not repeat them again. Only such repentance is considered true repentance!The story of "The Confession of Emperor Liang" reminds people: we must believe in cause and effect clearly, do not do any evil, and do all good!And when dealing with the sins you have committed, you must sincerely repent!And never make any more mistakes!
