If a person who studies Buddhism and practices does not practice diligently, his achievements will be in danger and will naturally be difficult to escape from life and death.Why do you mean that this is just a superficial practice if a layman does not practice diligently?

When studying Buddhism, you can practice it from the exoteric school, or you can achieve it based on the secret method.

Now, the lay Buddhists do not practice diligently because they are more casual in their practice. They are not like monks reciting morning and evening lessons, practicing Zen and Dharma, and they have unified arrangements. You can’t help but say it, be lazy, or simply not practicing, etc. There are their own rules in the temples, so there are fewer situations where they do not practice the Dharma and practice meditation.

However, since lay Buddhists practice at home, no one will manage and arrange them. Therefore, it is possible to not practice the Dharma, occasionally do not do homework, and be careless about oneself.

Moreover, in the life of worldly law, lay Buddhists and practitioners are often plagued by worldly law, entangled by family, society, children, relatives, work, etc., or indulged in enjoyment, singing and dancing for a while, or were busy with livelihood, negotiating business with others, having to eat and drink, or becoming an official, or having a relationship with his family, or playing with his family, etc.

If you are trapped in these worldly affairs, you will sometimes forget your practice aside and only care about responding to the external environment around you, or be led by the nose with the inner troubles. In this way, what kind of practice can you talk about?

Therefore, since the lack of randomness in the practice of lay Buddhists has its negative impact.This requires lay Buddhists who practice at home to be more cautious and conscious than monks, and they should have more impermanence and renunciation than monks in temples. They should always sound the alarm for impermanence, remind themselves, and warn themselves not to be confused about worldly affairs, and should pay attention to practicing diligently!

If you just delay in worldly laws, like ordinary sentient beings who do not understand the law of impermanence of cause and effect, and wander in the sea of suffering of cause and effect karma every day, without any liberation of your own practice, then such a lay Buddhist practitioner will be like nothingness if he has the magic weapon for liberation.Having Buddhism but not practicing according to the law means that there is no support for success and a backer for suffering. This will be very goodpityof.

Those who truly want to escape from life and death will be diligent in practicing the Dharma as lay Buddhists, and will not be confused by worldly laws. If they want to strive to be unable to blow the eight winds, they can practice diligently and become a great bodhisattva and a great saint.

Therefore, the key to the achievement of practitioners' practice is the word "true". To truly practice rather than false practice, to truly realize rather than false enlightenment, to be truly cautious rather than false self-care. With this word "true", practitioners who are just practicing can be in the mud without being contaminated by the mud.Then, lay Buddhists and practitioners who practice at home can practice diligently. Of course, what’s wrong with achieving great achievements?

Therefore, it is briefly stated that lay people do not practice diligently, which is superficial and has no benefit!
