In temples, you often hear "Pray for the blessings of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, and ask for blessings of Masters", and you will also see some believers who have brought some Buddhist beads, Dharma instruments, etc. to ask the master to recite mantras and scriptures, hoping that these Dharma instruments, Buddhist beads, etc. can be given an even more incredible power that can bring benefits to yourself, which is called "blessing".
What exactly is blessing? Where does the power of blessing come from? How can we obtain true blessing?
01What is blessing
True blessing is a change in mindset. Through the practice of Buddhism, we have changed some of our past delusions and wrong ideas, which is blessing.
First of all, we need to know what blessings are."Add" means that Buddhas and Bodhisattvas give us their kind wishes, or the merits and blessings they have achieved; "holding" is like we take them with our hands, pick them up, and keep them.
If you really have a sincere and respectful heart to the Three Jewels in your heart, you will be blessed only by wearing Buddha statues. If you wear a joke, a frivolous heart, superstition, curiosity, and a show-off heart, and disrespect and destruction, it will only increase evil karma and trouble. Most people pursue external sensing, but do not know that "blessing" comes from their own faith and respect.
Blessings require both the "blessing" of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas and the "uphold" of one's own sincerity in order to communicate with each other, and internal causes and external conditions are indispensable.
Just like there is a moon in the sky and clean and peaceful water on the ground, the bright moon can be reflected; if the water is turbid and disturbed, the moon shadow will be difficult to appear. If there is only "addition" and no "holding", or there is only "holding" and no "adding", it will not work.
In fact, "blessing" is to use Buddhas and Bodhisattvas as external factors to inspire the Buddha nature deep in our hearts. All living beings have Buddha nature in their hearts, and Buddhas and Bodhisattvas are external causes. They must rely on faith and desire to be the antenna to connect the two.
Blessing, its true meaning is translated into transformation, also known as transformation.True blessing is a change in mindset. Through reading and reciting Buddhist scriptures and practicing Buddhism, some of our past delusions and wrong knowledge have changed. This is blessing.
02The blessings of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas are everywhere
The blessings of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas are not necessarily the way we imagined. If we can regard all realms as blessings of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, we can discover the true wonders.
Buddhas and Bodhisattvas are not specific people or specific images. The statues of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas in the temple are just manifestations of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, and are a help that we can use them with our hearts.
Buddhas and Bodhisattvas are a pure and perfect state. If we have faith in Buddhism, we can feel the blessings of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, instead of using the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas who are fantasized in our minds to demand external appearance. This is itself using the wrong mind.
We must regard all states, especially adversity, as blessings from Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, and as the best opportunity to practice.Only in difficult situations, adversities, difficulties and sufferings can we have the opportunity to see our troubles, reflect on our faults, let go of our inner arrogance, wash away the superficial vanity, truly temper and grow, and break through our own life realm.
True practitioners will understand that the most precious blessing of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas is not the external fruit, but to make oneself braver, compassionate, and purr when facing suffering. The blessings of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas are not necessarily the way we imagine. If you can regard all realms as blessings from Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, you can discover the true wonders.
When we discover our own troubles and overcome our own troubles, we will receive the most extraordinary blessings of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas.Wisdom is the blessing of Buddha, and troubles are the blessing of demons.
03Blessings do not make you smooth sailing
Don’t pray for everything going well, I wish you have the courage to face all difficulties; don’t pray for everyone to be satisfied, I wish you to treat all sentient beings more compassionately; don’t pray for sweet fruits, I wish you can persevere in sowing the cause.
Bodhisattvas have no mind, and take the heart of sentient beings as their mind; Bodhisattvas have no mind, and take the state of sentient beings as their mind.As the saying goes, "When you go with the flow, you will be in harmony with everything." Whatever the current time and space needs the most is what Buddhas and Bodhisattvas do.
To the whole, the karma and blessings of sentient beings will appear in what kind of appearance will the cause and effect of the Buddha's cause; for individuals, as long as they sincerely pray and remember the Three Jewels, the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas will bless you and respond.
“It is to see that all people are Bodhisattvas, but I am the only one who is an ordinary person. This is to teach us to reflect on everything and regard all realms as blessings of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, rather than to use Buddhism to compare and observe others, but forget to examine ourselves and practice ourselves. This encourages us to work hard inwardly, not to deny our compassion for all living beings.
Helping and benefiting sentient beings is the tireless cause of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. In practicing, you must have both the highest seek and the lowest transformation, and you must not neglect it.
The blessings of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas do not help us solve problems in life, but help us solve major causes and conditions, and open up, show, enlighten, and enter the Buddha's knowledge and views.
