In "The Growth of a Counselor", the instructor pointed out that half an hour of discussion and communication is very important.
On the one hand, the counselor should guide everyone back to the current learning focus based on the students' sharing and solve the doubts and difficulties in the study; on the other hand, in the sharing process, the counselor needs to clarify one by one, point out the problems and solve them.This will help students accurately grasp the Dharma.
Of course, this also puts higher demands on counselors.We must not only be clear about the Dharma, know the key points of this lesson, but also be good at listening and summarizing, knowing what problems exist in sharing, and organizing students to communicate.
Since the May counselor forum is "about how to provide 30-minute guidance", we can share my confusion about how to guide the first lecture of "Getting to the Buddha and Understanding Buddhism", how the on-site effect and existence are.I hope to get comments from other counselors on site to improve my guidance ability and improve the effectiveness of discussion and communication, which will help students accurately grasp the Dharma.
I have been in the internship counselor position for more than 7 months, and "About 30-minute guidance" also makes me feel very challenging.
The first lecture of the Dharma of the present period, "Getting to the Buddha and Understanding the Dharma", is to help everyone better understand the Dharma, and at the same time better understand the Buddha and establish faith in the Three Jewels.Buddha is the foundation for the establishment of Buddhism and Buddhism.Only by understanding the Buddha can we better understand the Dharma, and only by better understanding the Dharma can we complete the changes in life.
The Buddha's becoming a monk, seeking the Tao, subjugating demons, and achieving enlightenment have the same meaning for each of us.The Buddha became a monk based on life thinking, because he saw that secular life is full of bonds and obstacles, and it is not easy to concentrate on practicing Taoism.Therefore, if you really want to be liberated from life and death and achieve nirvana, becoming a monk is undoubtedly the best way.His choice is inspiring to all those who wish to explore the true meaning of life.For lay people, we should also remind ourselves at all times: What is the intention to study Buddhism? What is the ultimate goal? Otherwise, we will often regard learning Buddhism as a content in life, or even an embellishment.
There are two key points in the test of mind and action: 1. Can I realize the importance of understanding the Buddha's teachings? 2. Did the Buddha's monk make me realize the importance and value of pursuing truth?
Based on the guidance of the above Dharma principles, I asked the following questions in the interactive discussion section: How can understanding the Buddha's teachings help me? Is there anything that needs to be adjusted in my current state of cultivation?
Summary of the interactive discussion between senior brothers and sisters has the following three states:

1.Sharing about subduing demons is very inspired. To subdue demons, you must study diligently.Recognizing that the Buddha is also formed by human practice, it is a state of enlightenment, while ordinary people live in a state of confusion.Although I have many work tasks recently, I still need to learn more about the Dharma.
2.Recognizing that Buddhism has changed one's wrong concepts, getting along more harmoniously with colleagues, and being willing to study Buddhism more diligently.
3.Recognize the importance of Buddhism to life.A senior brother said that 40 minutes of listening and thinking every day cannot be guaranteed, and more time to listen and think should be adjusted.I hope that the senior brothers will remind each other and do a good job in fixed lessons and study and thinking.
4.He expressed that he should consider how to live better in this life, pay more attention to life in faith, and pursue liberation.
5.It indicates that the Buddha's successful method of practicing Taoism is not easy for ordinary people to believe because of their ego. When studying Buddhism, you must learn to cultivate faith and cultivate a firm desire to seek Taoism.
2. If you do not have enough listening and thinking about the Dharma principles in the current period, you cannot observe and practice according to the current problems:
1.Being obsessed with becoming a monk is a negative manifestation of irresponsibility to your family, and studying Buddhism means becoming a monk.
2.It is not acceptable to become a monk at present, and you have to wait until you have no worries before becoming a monk.
3.When it comes to eating vegetarian food, people around me regard it as alternative and feel uncomfortable, they believe that the application of Buddhism is very contradictory to actual life.
4.A senior brother said that only after he had experienced it could he learn it and expressed doubts about the reference significance of the Buddhist teachings.
5.Becoming a Buddha is difficult.There are only two types of people who need to learn Buddhism well: one has money and leisure, and the other is forced by life.
6.Due to the limitations of existing living conditions, it is difficult to learn Buddhism.
3. It has nothing to do with interactive issues, and creates your own topic:
Why do Buddhism bathe in Buddha on Christmas? Why is it not like the Western Santa Claus distributed gifts?
During the live interaction, every senior brother can actively participate in the discussion.From the above discussion and sharing, it can be seen that some senior brothers cannot obtain correct views from the current Dharma principles because they do not have enough experience and thinking. What they want to express often cannot correspond to the counselor's guidance ideas, resulting in the unsatisfactory results of the interactive discussion.
When the counselor summarizes, first of all, I will rejoice with the senior brothers and the senior brothers actively participate in the interaction and share sincerely. Only in this way can the senior brothers dare to express their true feelings, and thus understand the senior brothers’ cultivation status.
Secondly, based on the goals to be achieved by interactive sharing: clarify the key points, solve doubts and difficulties, clarify the views of unclear right and wrong, and conduct guidance and summary, such as guiding the true meaning of becoming a monk; in response to misunderstandings such as vegetarianism, encourage senior brothers to guide their work and life according to the wisdom of Buddhism, and no longer follow the trend. Only in this way can they be responsible for their own lives.
At the same time, guide the senior brothers to think: If you correctly apply the wisdom of Buddhism in real life, will you experience that troubles can be resolved and you can be liberated from troubles at the moment? This guide the senior brothers to develop faith in practicing Buddhism and rethink the purpose of learning Buddhism.
Due to the limited time of interaction and sharing and the lack of connection with the current Dharma principles, I will encourage my seniors to practice and discuss it before practicing.Effective guidance for 30-minute interactive sharing needs to be based on the counselor’s accurate understanding of the law.
