When Shakyamuni Buddha practiced the Bodhisattva path, he was reincarnated after two great kalpas and was named Zhixian Boy.At that time, the Buddha of Lantern was invited by the King of Lantern and lived in the Palace of Lantern.The subordinate of King Mingdeng was a King of Caizi, who had been giving generously for the past twelve years. At that time, he was preparing to give generously: Caizi wanted to offer gifts with five major donations, including golden staff, golden bottles and gold plates, four treasures and bedding, five hundred silver coins, and beautiful women in full dress.
At this time, Zhixian and Zhihui were studying the scriptures before the master. According to local customs, disciples should offer money and property to repay the master's kindness.When the two were thinking about offering, they suddenly heard that the King of Caizi wanted to do the five great offerings and great donations, and the king also clearly stated that the object of giving was a person who was proficient in the teachings.The two of them couldn't help but think: We are proficient in treatises and knowledgeable, and if we go to ask for it, we may be able to fulfill our wishes.
King Caizi was also advised by the gods at this moment, saying, "Recently, Zhixian and Zhizhi want to come to you. I hope you can give the five great donations to Zhixian.In this way, the vast donations you have done in the past twelve years will be rewarded with great rewards."When the king heard this, he couldn't help but think: All the gods and men came to persuade them, and they must be different.
Shortly afterwards, the king saw two dignified men walking towards his palace from afar, and the two sat in the ranks of preparing to accept the offerings.King Caizi thought to himself: The so-called Zhixian of the heavenly beings may be one of the two.So he took the initiative to walk up to the two of them and pointed at Jixian and asked, "Are you Jixian?"”
“It's me.” Ji-hyun replied.
The king arranged Zhixian at the first seat of the entire queue and offered various foods to everyone, and gave all the five major donations to Zhixian.Zhixian accepted four of them, including the golden rod, but as for the beauty, he did not dare to accept it. He declined to the king, "I am a practitioner of Brahma and Purity. How can I accept women as my relatives?”
But the woman in high spirits immediately fell in love with him as soon as she saw her beautiful appearance.She actually took the initiative to persuade Zhixian and said, "No matter what, you should accept me."”
Zhixian insisted: "I can't accept it."”
The king had already included this woman in the charity list, but now Zhixian refused to accept it, so she had to return to the Denghuang Palace in a frustration.After returning, she took down all her gold jewelry and handed it to a man who made the garland, and told him, "I handed over all such expensive jewelry to you, I just want you to give me every day to offer to the green lotus of the Heavenly Lord.”
This person agreed immediately.
Zhixian brought the four great gifts back to the master, and the master gave him five hundred silver coins.Zhixian felt ten kinds of dream signs in his dream that night: drinking the water of the sea, walking in the air, holding the sun, holding the moon, and the king ordered himself to ride on a carriage, riding a fairy, riding a white elephant, riding a swan, riding a lion, riding a huge rock.After waking up from the dream, he thought to himself: I wonder who can analyze this dream for me?
There was an immortal with five supernatural powers not far from Zhixian's residence, so Zhixian asked him about it.The immortal replied, "I cannot give you a prophecy. You should go to the palace of Denghuang. There is a beacon king who is about to welcome the Buddha of Lan Deng. The Tathagata will give you a prophecy in person.”
According to the immortal, Zhixian rushed to the Denghuang Palace.
In order to offer sacrifices to the Buddha, the king ordered everyone in the country to gather flowers for offering sacrifices to the Buddha.When flowers were hard to find anywhere else, the woman who was rejected by Ji Hyun found the garland and asked for the green lotus.The man said in embarrassment: “The king has ordered all the flowers to be taken away."When the woman heard this, she said to him unwillingly: "You go to the pool to explore carefully, maybe there are still a few unpicked green lotus.”
As a result, due to the virtues of women, when the garland came to the pool, he found that there were seven green lotus flowers swaying in the pool.When the woman learned about it, she immediately ordered him, "Check it for me quickly."He replied anxiously, "I really dare not. If the king knew, he would definitely punish me heavily.”
The woman said, “Have the flowers in this pond been handed over to the king by lighting?”
The garlander said, "This is the truth, all the flowers have been picked.”
The woman said, "There are seven more branches now. Isn't this my blessing present?Giving the flowers to me will not cause any trouble to you.”
The man had to say, "I can pick seven green lotus flowers for you, but you must not let the king discover it, and you can only carry the bouquet quietly.”
The woman comforted him and said, "It is true that my blessings are present and the green lotus remains. You can pick them with confidence, and I hide them in the water bottle.”
The garlander finally picked all seven green lotus flowers on the shore and handed them to the woman, and she hid them in a water bottle and took them to the city.
Zhixian also wanted to offer to Buddha's garlands, but he searched everywhere in the garden and other places but saw no trace of a flower.When I returned to a garden again, it happened to be a woman holding a water bottle.Because of the power of wisdom and virtue, the green lotus flowers appear from the hiding bottle.Zhixian said to the woman, "I will give you five hundred silver coins, can I sell the flowers to me?"”
The woman seized the opportunity and answered him angrily: "You didn't want to accept me before, but now you are willing to accept this green lotus?"How can I sell the flowers to you!"Not long after he finished speaking, the woman changed her words and said, "What do you want to have the green lotus?”
Zhixian explained to her, “I want to offer to the Buddha.”
After hearing this, the woman took the opportunity to say, "I don't want your five hundred silver coins. I just hope that after offering you, you can make a vow to let me be your wife for life.If I can really make such a vow, I can give the green lotus for free.”
Zhixian answered her frankly and said, "I like giving alms and will give alms to my wife, children, and even my own flesh and blood in the future.”
The woman said firmly, “As long as you can make a vow to be your wife forever, I will never create any obstacles for you to give.I am willing to rejoice and give it to you whatever you want to give.”
After the woman finished speaking, she gave Zhixian five green lotus flowers, leaving two of them and wanted to offer them to the Buddha himself.The woman finally made a vow: "When you practice the Bodhi path for life, I hope that I can become your concubine who practices good deeds together.”
The King of Beacon had cleaned and decorated the entire city at this time. He held a treasure umbrella of a hundred spokes and welcomed the Tathagata with all the ministers;Caizi and his subordinates also left the city to welcome the Tathagata.After bowing at the feet of Tathagata, everyone prayed to Tathagata into the city. The Buddha Lan Ding and many monks entered the city happily.When Tathagata stepped on the city gate stairs with his feet, the earth shook six times;The heavenly beings also bring down flowers and wonderful fragrance;Blind, crazy, deaf, etc. all returned to normal;The person who is in prison is immediately free from the shackles;All mothers are out of pain and terror;All living beings in hell also feel compassion;All sentient beings are filled with joy, and all the animals such as horses and elephants are singing joyfully... In short, with the merits and power of the Tathagata, all kinds of auspicious signs are naturally presented.
Zhixian, Zhihui and the woman came to the Lantern Buddha's Place with flowers in their hands. At that time, the people present were crowded with people. Everyone wanted to squeeze forward to offer to the Buddha, so the three of them could not approach.The Buddha of Lantern had already known this situation. In order to enable Zhixian to get close to him smoothly, the Tathagata transformed into a heavy rain and fell from the sky. For a moment, everyone scattered to shelter from the rain.Only then did Zhixian have the opportunity to come and pay homage to the Tathagata. When he saw the Tathagata's undisguised appearance, he immediately felt extremely happy and immediately offered to the Tathagata with five green lotus flowers.
Tathagata uses the power of divine blessing to make these green lotus flowers as big as a wheel at the moment. When these canopy-like green lotus flowers are always in the shadows on their tops when Tathagata walks and stays.After seeing it personally, the woman also felt happy and offered the remaining two green lotus flowers to the Buddha.These two flowers are also as big as a wheel under the blessing of Tathagata, and become a canopy next to Tathagata's ears.
Seeing that the heavy rain had poured out, the entire site was muddy, Zhixian wanted to spread his golden hair on the ground for Tathagata to walk.While cutting off his hair bun, he vowed, "If the wise Tathagata, if I attain Bodhi, I will have no feet in life and death, and quickly step on my hair.”
Fulfilling his wish, Lan Deng Buddha stepped on Zhixian's hair with his feet.He had been following Zhixian's wisdom at this moment and couldn't help but feel angry. He said fiercely in dissatisfaction: "Please look, Lan Deng Buddha trampled Zhixian's hair like he treated animals.”
After stepping on Zhixian's hair, the Buddha Lan Deng stepped on the golden hair on the ground and told the monks accompanying him, "You must not step on these hairs. This Brahmin Sect is actually a great scholar who has accumulated great good roots in front of the infinite Tathagata."He also gave a prophecy to Zhixian and said, "After a great kalpa, you will become a protector, a teacher, a bright lamp, and a Tathagata enlightenment in the Saha world, and is called Shakyamuni Buddha.”
After being given the prophecy of Tathagata, Zhixian rose to the top of the seven-dora tree, and his hair grew again and was particularly strict.When they live in the void, most sentient beings witness it with their own eyes. They all vowed, "When you become a Buddha, we all wish to be your Śrāvakas."”
The woman also vowed, “I wish to be your wife until you become a Buddha;After you become a Buddha, I also wish to become your disciple.”
The King of Beacon picked up the hairs scattered on the ground, and King Caizi immediately asked to give it to him after seeing it.The King of Being Ding gave all of him to Caizi with his wish.The ministers were rushing to ask for it at this time, and each of them gave each fortune.After the ministers returned home, they built a pagoda for each hair to offer.
After Zhixian was given the prophecy of the Buddha Lantern, the King of Minglan, the King of Caizi, and the subjects in the city all knew that he should have incredible merits in the future. Since then, everyone has made great efforts to offer him vigorously with joy.
Zhixian did not forget wisdom in a joyful atmosphere. He asked Zhihui: "I have received the supreme Bodhi prophecy. I wonder what kind of mind you are now?”
Zhihui said ashamedly, "All everything I have been destroyed, because when the Buddha of Lanting stepped on your hair, I suddenly felt angry. I said at that time, "The Tathagata trampled on Zhixian's hair like an animal."'"
After hearing this, Zhixian advised Zhihui to say, “Please come and become a monk with me in front of the Tathagata.”
After the two became monks, Zhixian studied the Three Canons thoroughly and accepted his relatives according to the Dharma to offer to the Tathagata's blue lotus and enjoy great happiness before obtaining the Buddha's fruit. This good root also becomes the cause and condition for him to become a Buddha.
As for women who are greedy and wise and virtuous, they are the ones who are later named Saudra.[The above is also the cause and effect of Siddhartha and Yasudharata]
Sakyamuni Buddha was given the prophecy before the Buddha Lanlan, and later he finally attained the supreme enlightenment.
