Master Shengyi explained: What is ego and what is Dharma attachment?

Excerpted from "

Master Shengyi Diamond Sutra

Vajra is a metaphor for Prajna, which can break the attachment of sentient beings. The attachment of sentient beings has not been broken since the beginning of time, so life and death

Reincarnation

If there is no end, if the ego is broken, no one will suffer from birth and death. The ego is not easy to break, but only the Vajra Prajna can break.

【What is ego?】

After we die, the one who goes to the underworld for trial is "I". It is not our body, it is "I". If we hold on, there will be; if we don't hold on, there will be nothing. Therefore, it is "I" who goes to the underworld for trial, and after being sentenced to sin, it is also "I". It is not our body that goes to the underworld for trial, but we will suffer in hell. It is not our body that goes to the underworld. The body is dead and buried. There is no or no experience, but I will only go to the underworld. After the sins in hell are over, when reincarnated, it is also "I" who will be reincarnated. Without self, you will not be able to enter the womb. Only with me can you enter the womb;Or if you enter the human womb, after entering the womb, you are born as a human, and commit sins when you grow up. Who commits sin?It is not the body that commits sin, it is the 'I' that commits sin.

All sins are created by me. For example, when walking on the road, unknowingly, an ant killed, without knowing that - no self - no sin. If you see an ant and deliberately trampling it to death, there is me and there is a sin of killing ant, so all sins are born from me.

Not only are all sins born from me, but all greed, anger, ignorance and troubles also arise from me. The so-called greed, I am anger, I am ignorant, I am jealous, I am flattered, I am arrogant, I am arrogant, I have no self, and all troubles have nowhere to arise.

Troubles arise from me, karma is done from me, and reincarnation is suffered from me, all because of the "I", which is called ego.'Ego' is very powerful and not easy to break. Only Vajra Prajna can break the ego. If you keep ego ego clear, there will be no end to life and death.

In the past, Modengga girl was obsessed with a marriage of five hundred lives, so she was a woman for five hundred lives. Later, at the Shurangama Conference, she got

Shurangama Mantra

The power of the self-attachment is eliminated and the fruit of Anaga is realized.

If the five aggregates arise me and break the five aggregates, then there will be no self to cause troubles, no self to commit sins, no self to suffer from birth and death, which is called ending life and death. The shravakas and pratyekabuddhas only use the power of Prajna to break the ego, have no self, no more troubles, no self, no karma, no self, no self, no self, no life and death, and leave the fire house of the three realms, and avoid reincarnation.

【What is Dharma attachment?】

Although the Śrāvakas and Pratyekabuddhas believe that the five aggregates have no self, they still believe that there are the five aggregates of law, the laws of life and death, and the laws of nirvana, which is called the attachment to Dharma. Since the existence of law is held, it covers the Buddha nature. Therefore, although the two vehicles have passed away from birth and death, they have not seen the Buddha nature, and have not seen the Buddha nature, and do not know how to start from nature, how can they seek Buddha paths and transform sentient beings?

Not only is ordinary people not empty in self-attachment, but they are not empty in Dharma. They have self-attachment, so they suffer from the cycle of life and death, and have Dharma attachment, so they do not see the Buddha nature; The Bodhisattva uses the wisdom of Vajra Prajna to break the attachment to self, to be born in the sea of suffering of birth and death, to be free from reincarnation, to break the attachment to Dharma, to see the Buddha nature, to practice the six paramitas and ten thousand practices from nature, and to become a Buddha after the merits are complete.

Master Shengyi Diamond Sutra

‘The environment of birth and death arises, like water with waves.'The attachment to the Dharma has not been eliminated for a day. Giving is not Prajna, Prajna is not meditation, meditation is not forbearance, forbearance is not keeping precepts, Dharma is different, and Dharma is incompatible with each other. For example, water does not accommodate fire, fire does not accommodate water, earth does not accommodate wind, wind does not accommodate earth, when Dharma is attached to emptiness, giving is Prajna, Prajna is forbearance, forbearance is keeping precepts, water nature is fire nature, all dharmas are the same, all dharmas are formed into one piece, like water without waves, which is called Paramita; Therefore, Paramita is the Prajna of Reality.
