After achieving enlightenment, the Arhat still does not forget his ex-wife

Buddhist stories 2015-10-02

Editor's note: Venerable Mahakasyapa is one of the ten great disciples of the Buddha. Before becoming a monk, they were forced to get married by their family, but before becoming a husband and wife, they made great vows to become monks and learn Taoism without being involved in the secular world, so they only have the name of husband and wife but not the reality of husband and wife.Later, both of them converted to Buddhism and attained the right result.

Everyone is respectful

One year after Mahakasyapa became a monk, that was the third year after the Buddha became enlightened. When the Buddha accepted his father's request to return to his hometown of Viagra with his disciples, he also followed him.Later, when the Buddha returned to the Gional Temple in Shravas, in many Sakyamunis, who admired the Buddha as a monk, the Buddha's adoptive mother, Madam Thammad. (Mahapajapati ),He was also allowed to become a monk and established a nun.

Therefore, Mahakasyapa remembered what he had made an agreement with Miaoxian. In the past, women were not allowed to become monks, so there was no way to advise the Buddha. Now that the nun group was established, it was possible to settle the agreement with his wife.Since Mahakasyapa left home, it has been three or four years of wind, frost, cold and heat. In the past three or four years, I wonder what happened to Miaoxian? He quietly entered into meditation and observed, knowing that Miaoxian had become a disciple of the heretics on the banks of the Ganges River.

It turned out that since her husband went to practice Taoism, Miaoxian, she has stayed at home alone to wait for news about her husband. Time passed like flowing water. January, February, year and two years, the news of Mahasyapa disappeared, and she finally decided not to wait and become a monk. After she made up her wish, she immediately called the people in charge of the warehouse and distributed all the pearls to her relatives, neighbors, and family. She walked to the banks of the Ganges River and worshipped the naked heretics who practiced the Taoism there as their teacher.

After Miaoxian became a disciple of the naked heretic, she suffered a lot of humiliation due to her beauty. Mahakasyapa knew that she was waiting for him to greet her very eagerly. He was indeed anxious to tell the Buddha's true teachings to his beloved wife as soon as possible. So he told a nun this reason and asked him to welcome Miaoxian. The nun sympathized with Miaoxian and soon welcomed Miaoxian.

After Miaoxian joined the nun's sect, her fairy-like beauty became the material for people to fabricate rumors. She felt ashamed and lamented the shortcomings of being a woman. From then on, she stopped begging, stayed away from the public, and did not show up in crowded places.

Mahakasyapa felt very pity for her, so he asked the Buddha's permission and gave her half of the food she begged for food every day. This incident made the nuns, the famous monks who were famous for their stolen Lannanda, say a lot of bad words. She said, "Those two people have never shared beds for twelve years at home, but now they see them eating so kindly every day, I think there must be some private relationships in it."”

After hearing this, Mahakasyapa didn't care about her in the heart of Kuoda's saint, but in order to inspire Miaoxian to practice hard, she no longer paid attention to her.In a world filled with right and wrong and sin, such a pure and self-respecting saint, Dakasyapa, actually created a romantic news for him. It really makes people scream for him!

The Miaoxian Sutra was stimulated by this, and he practiced with great seriousness and severity. He did not sleep all night, was sincere and confessed his repentance, and finally became enlightened. After she became enlightened, she said, "Break off the bondage and complete the pure practice. I have done what I should do."

The Buddha later praised him and said, "Among the nuns, no one can understand the fate more than the nuns of Miaoxian!”

Mahakasyapa was very happy and had no worries about the worldly kindness in his heart.
