(三)悲愍有情
上面说到五处观察所皈依境中,如来由具大悲故,成所皈依处。此大慈悲,亦是如来与外道差别不共功德之一。如《大般涅槃经.梵行品》赞佛说:「大慈愍众生,故令我皈依。」又如《增一阿含经》第三十一〈力品〉说:「诸佛世尊,成大慈悲,以大悲为力,弘益众生。」故皈依三宝者,应学如来,于诸有情,断除损害而修悲愍心;于诸有情,先修悦意慈,见诸有请,皆甚可悦意;复修行极亲厚心,极爱念心,欲作恩心,欲拔苦心,无厌倦心,代受苦心,令心调柔自在。
于诸有情生起拔苦与乐的堪能意乐,这有三种修相差别,如《瑜伽师地论》卷四十四说:「一、有情缘慈,即普缘一切有情,发起与乐的增上意乐,修慈俱心,当知是名有情缘慈。二、法缘慈,即善于一切有情,住唯法想增上意乐,不起有情相,正观唯于法上假说有情,修慈俱心,当知此名法缘慈。三、无缘慈,修慈行者,复于诸法,远离分别,不起法相,修慈俱心,当知即此名无缘慈。如有情缘、法缘、无缘三慈差别,如是菩萨普缘一切有苦有情,发起除苦增上意乐,修悲俱心,即是有情缘悲。若住唯法想,修悲俱心,即法缘悲。若不起法想,住于无相,修悲俱心,即无缘悲。」如《大般涅槃经》卷十四〈梵行品〉说:「慈之所缘一切众生,如缘父母妻子亲属,如是义故,名众生慈。法缘者,不见父母妻子亲属,见一切法,皆从缘生,是名法缘。无缘者,不住法相及众生相,是名无缘。悲喜舍心,亦复如是。」

(四)于三宝所勤修供奉

学佛之人,在皈依三宝后,应随时以清净信心,忆念三宝的功德,随己力能以其或少或多的诸供养具而为供养。这是培养个人福德的事,亦是自己依、正二报的庄严因行,所以应该欢喜虔诚地时时无间于三宝前随力勤修供养。

(2)供养差别相
供养可分为有十种,如《瑜伽师地论》卷四十四说:「当知供养,略有十种:
一、设利罗供养,二、制多供养;三、现前供养;四、不现前供养;五、自作供养;六、教他供养;七、财敬供养;八、广大供养;九、无染供养;十、正行供养。」
分别略释如下:
1、设利罗供养:设利罗旧译为舍利,这里是指如来的色身。设利罗供养,就是供养者亲身现前供养如来的色身,是名设利罗供养。
2、制多供养:制多义翻塔庙,就是于为如来所造的一切塔庙前,无论为新为旧,设诸供养,是名制多供养。
3、现前供养:就是供养者,于如来色身,或于如来的塔庙,亲身面对其前现见而设供养,是名现前供养。
又若供养者,于如来所,或如来制多所,现前施设供养品时,发起增上意乐相应的清净心,作如是的思惟:「若一如来法性,即是去来今世一切如来法性。若一如来制多法性,即是十方无边无际一切世界所有如来制多法性。是故我今供现如来,即是供养其余三世一切如来。供现制多,即是供养其余十方无边无际一切世界,若窣堵波、若龛、若台、若故制多、若新制多,当知是名菩萨俱供现不现前一切如来及以制多。」
4、不现前供养:即供养者,于不现前一切如来,及如来塔庙,作如是之观想:「我现前普为三世一切如来,一切十方如来塔庙,施设供养,当知是名唯供不现前如来及塔庙。又若于佛涅槃后,为供养如来故,为如来造立形像,或塔庙,或龛台,随己能力,造一造二,乃至百、千、万、亿,而设供养,亦是不现前供养。」
如《瑜伽师地论》说,唯供现前佛及塔庙,获得广大福果。若唯供不现前佛及以塔庙,获得大大福果。若俱供养现不现前佛及制多,应知获得最大福果。为无有上。
5、自作供养:即供养者,于如来所,或如来塔庙所,欲设供养,为了恭敬,唯自已亲手作供,不使人代作或帮供,是名自作供养。
6、教他供养:供养者为令所余有情皆能培植福德,发心供养三宝,于如来所,或如来塔庙所,欲设供养时,于诸供品,非唯自作,亦劝父母、妻子、朋友等,令于如来所,或如来塔庙所,随力随能,作诸供养,当知是名教他供养。若于贫苦无力兴办供养的有情,兴慈愍心,将自己供品,布施与他,令其于如来前及如来塔庙前持用供养,愿其招感福乐果报,但自己无所供养,是名唯教他供养。若自己于佛及塔供养,亦施他令供,其名自他俱共供养。
